What are the signs and symptoms of a torn muscle

On Behalf of | Apr 25, 2017 | Workplace Injuries |

A torn muscle is every bit as painful and uncomfortable as it sounds. If you suffer this type of injury, it may require medical treatment and quite a bit of rest.

Depending on your job, you may be at risk for this type of injury on a daily basis. For example, if you lift heavy items all day long, such as in a warehouse setting, it’s possible that you could eventually suffer a torn muscle.

Some of the many signs and symptoms of a torn muscle include:

— Swelling and redness at the site of the injury

— Pain, even when resting

— Pain when you attempt to use the muscle

— Weakness

— Inability to use the muscle

All of these symptoms point toward a torn muscle. Furthermore, these can make it difficult for you to live your life. For instance, if you need your muscle to complete your job, you may not be able to do so until it is completely healthy.

If you are experiencing any of the signs and symptoms of a torn muscle, the first thing you should do is report the injury to your employer. Along with this, you must receive immediate medical treatment.

Depending on the severity, you may soon find yourself making a claim for workers’ compensation benefits. It’s your hope that your claim is approved and you begin to receive payments right away. If this doesn’t happen or if your claim is denied, take the time to learn more about your rights. You can file an appeal with the idea of having the denial overturned.
