Construction accident leads to hospitalization of forklift driver

When you work in construction, there are dozens of things that can go wrong. Even if you do everything right, outside factors could play a role in a serious accident that results in your injury.

Not much is known about the following accident, but it’s clear that it could have turned out much worse than it did. If you’re involved in a construction accident like this one, remember that workers’ compensation is there for you, so you can focus on recovery instead of the money you could lose by not working.

A construction worker has been rushed to the hospital following a serious injury suffered on April 27. According to the news, the worker was on the job near 54th and Newport Avenue when the forklift he was driving tipped over. It’s not clear how it toppled, but that is how the emergency crew discovered the vehicle at around 9:15 that morning.

Paramedics rushed the driver of the forklift to the hospital, and firefighters stayed behind to get the forklift back on its wheels. Fortunately, updated reports stated that the forklift driver’s injuries weren’t life-threatening and that he would survive the incident. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) was called to come to the scene to determine the cause of the accident and if steps need to be taken in the future to reduce the potential for a similar incident. It’s hoped that this is a one-off incident that is unlikely to be repeated. A further report should indicate if every proper procedure was followed on site or if violations occurred.
