What do you know about dangerous construction tools

As a construction worker, it goes without saying that you use tools from time to time. While these tools are meant to make your life easier, they can be extremely dangerous if you don’t know exactly what you are doing.

Here are some of the most dangerous construction tools:

  • Chainsaw
  • Nail gun
  • Table saw
  • Circular saw
  • Power drill
  • Air compressor
  • Ladder
  • Wood chipper

Some of these construction tools may not sound dangerous. For example, you may never think twice about using an air compressor. But consider this: It could blow debris toward another worker, thus causing a serious injury.

If you are going to use any type of construction tool, make sure you do the following:

  • Receive the proper training
  • Only use the tool in its intended manner
  • Make sure others know that you are using the tool

In the event of an accident caused by a construction tool, the first thing you should do is administer first aid. You can do this until professional medical assistance arrives on the scene.

From there, work closely with your medical team to better understand your injury and the type of treatment you require. You may find that it will take several weeks or months to make a full recovery.

Finally, report the accident to your employer as soon as possible. This will work in your favor if you have to file a workers’ compensation claim.

If you are unable to return to work, workers’ compensation can provide you with money until you are able to once again resume your normal career activity.
