There are all kinds of accidents that can happen on the job, but a few are more common than others. For example, it’s fairly common to hear about someone slipping and falling at work, as is it normal to hear about someone getting into a vehicular accident while working.
With any workplace, the goal has to be to protect workers as much as possible. Workers should be able to work in a safe environment without the risk of a serious injury. Even if there are hazards that are unavoidable, an employer should do all he or she can to mitigate the risk of harm coming to anyone on the job.
One of the more common kinds of injuries people run into is the risk of a blast injury. There are four types of injuries caused by fires or explosions known as primary, secondary, tertiary and quaternary blast injuries. Each one categorizes injuries into those caused by certain parts of an explosion. For instance, the tertiary blast injuries are caused by high-energy explosions that throw someone off his or her feet, while a secondary blast injury is caused by objects striking a worker.
Another common kind of workplace injury is caused by overexertion. Not getting enough rest for your body or mind can put you in an extremely dangerous position. Those who don’t get enough sleep could make mistakes that put themselves or others in harm’s way. If the body is fatigued, overuse could lead to injury.
These are a few kinds of injuries that can take place on the job. With any of them, you should have a right to seek compensation through your employer’s workers’ compensation insurance.
