Workplace injuries: Good lifting techniques protect your back

Most people in the Omaha workforce must lift and move heavy objects either frequently or occasionally. Even office workers must lift heavy items from time to time. Workers in other industries like construction and warehousing must lift large and heavy items frequently. Lifting: Create a wide and stable support base by keeping your legs shoulder-width apart. Squat down (do not bend) with back straight, eyes ahead and lift the item slowly, keeping it close to your body.

Moving: Holding the item close to your body at the level of your navel, let your feet and hips lead the way to the item’s destination. Once there, squat down as you did when lifting, and set the object down carefully.
